Ready or Not, Here December Comes!

I don't know about you, but I am in denial that it's already December! This year is absolutely flying by and I have a feeling it's not going to slow down! After a nice long Thanksgiving break to fill our bellies with Turkey and lots of other good food and family, we were all ready to come back and get right into our routine again. This week we continued our work with expository writing, wrapped up our subtraction within 12 unit in math, and chose a category we'd like to do a service project in for social studies. Our week was also filled with our assessments for reading groups, musical rehearsal, and exploring text features. Last but not least, your first graders put on a rockin' performance on Thursday in the "Around the World" musical! Check out pictures from the week below. On the afternoon of Thursday, December 21st , we will be having our winter party. Check out our sign up for who volunteered to bring items for our party...thank you to those families! We have 19 children in our class.

Toys For Tots Collection

Prairie Schools are pleased to be collection sites for Toys for Tots again this year. Toys are needed for boys and girls ages birth through 17. You may help by donating a new, unwrapped toy at Crest, Heights, Hill, Ridge, View, Creek, Point, the High School, Transportation or District Office. Thanks for making

a child's holiday a bit merrier!

Sight Words

Students will be learning the following first grade sight words next week.

Please practice reading and writing these sight words each night with your child. Our goal is for students to be able to read the words quickly without trying to sound them out. Students can also practice these sight words through fun games and activities at the following website:
