Spring break is Here!

It was great seeing everyone at conferences last week. Thank you for coming! I have enjoyed working with your child this year and look forward to watching them continue to learn and grow! Thank you for all of the support and help you give your child at home. If you ever have any questions or concerns that you may have forgotten to ask at conferences, please contact me. Have a wonderful and safe spring break!!

We ended the week with a visit from Mackenzie O'Shamrock (a Leprechaun), who needed our help figuring out where he should hide his gold! We did a Breakout EDU to solve puzzles and figured out he needed to move it to under a rainbow. Mackenzie O'Shamrock rewarded us for our help and hard work by sharing some of his Lucky Charms with us :) It was a great way to celebrate all our hard work so far this year and kick off spring break! Plants and Animals Unit

First grade is about to begin our new science unit exploring plants and animals. We are in need of some stem cutting for an upcoming experiment. We are looking for donations of stem cuttings from the following plants: Swedish Ivy, Coleus, pothos, spearmint, tradescantia zebrina. If you are able to provide a stem cutting, please let us know. Thank you for your help!

Sight Words

We have now learned all of the first grade sight words. Students are doing a

great job of reading the words, but we could use some extra practice with

spelling them. The lists will now be a review of some of the trickier first grade

words. Please practice reading and writing these sight words each night with

your child. Students can also practice these sight words through fun games and activities at the following website: https://www.spellingcity.com/1stgrade1516/
