First Week of First Grade!

Every Friday I will post a short blog that contains important reminders, upcoming events, our weekly sight word lists (when we start sight words), birthdays, the upcoming specials schedule, and a brief overview of what we have been up to in our classroom. Daily updates about what we are learning in the classroom will continue to be on our classroom Facebook page, “MrsWilabys Class”.

This week we spent a lot of time getting to know each other and school expectations. We read lots of books about friendship and growth mindset such as Peanut Butter and Cupcake and The OK book and talked about how we will constantly be working to get better at things this year as well as making lots of new friends.

We met Mrs. Grolmus and the two therapy dogs at Crest (Lennox and Freele) and we also met Mrs. Hayes, who will be helping some of us out with reading and math throughout the year.

We learned a lot about our classroom expectations including how to use our iPads correctly. We are excited to each have our own iPad to use throughout the day, so we plan on utilizing Seesaw and other fun apps frequently to learn as well as share our learning with you!

I have really enjoyed getting to know your child this week. I can tell it is going to be a great year! I was happy to share some successes with you all this week and am excited to continue to share these successes with you throughout the year as we continue to learn and grow!

Tuesday, August 30th – Fall Pictures (Order forms were included in the information sent home at open house. Please let me know if you need a new one.)

September 5th – No School (Labor Day)

Changes in End of Day Schedule

Please notify the office by 3:00 pm if there is a change in your child’s end of

day schedule. You can call the office (848-5280) or email the office staff.

Be sure to include all three of our secretaries on your email, incase one is out

the office for the day.
